Mattityahu: Are You the One?

The case one Jewish writer made, followed from his first page to his last

Mattityahu wrote his account for Jewish readers, and he wrote it to make a case. Every prophet he names and every scene he sets down is placed to answer one question: is Yeshua the Mashiach?

Twenty-two passages, printed exactly as they stand in the Anointed Messianic Bible, each one opened out with what the first hearers already knew and we have lost — which passage of the Tanakh is being echoed, what a custom or a place or an hour of the day actually meant, and where the moment falls in the year.

Why the men who could quote the prophet on Beit-Lechem never walked the six miles to look. What Yochanan's clothing told everyone who saw him. Why the answer sent back to a man in a prison cell was a list rather than a yes. What hour it was in the Temple when he cried out.

Forty-eight pages. Nothing in the Scripture has been altered. Everything added is marked.

Gems of Israel

Twelve tribes, twelve stones, one covenant

Twelve stones, cut and set in gold, one for each tribe of Isra’el, worn over the heart of the cohen ha-gadol every ordinary morning. This issue is given to those twelve stones.

The sages who wrote Bamidbar Rabbah looked at the choshen and saw the camp: a banner for every tribe, and every banner the colour of that tribe’s stone. Every colour in these pages comes from that midrash, and the Hebrew name of each stone is printed beside the English so you can see exactly what is meant.

A two-page spread for each of the twelve: the stone, the colour, the emblem on the banner, the place in the camp, the word the mother spoke at the birth, and the blessing the father spoke at the end. Alongside them, how the breastplate was made, what was kept inside the fold, and why the rows read from right to left.

Forty-eight pages. Not one of the twelve was left out.

Davidic Worship Dance

The Move of Adonai — its history, its power, and how to join the circle

Before it was ever a class, it was a woman with a timbrel at the edge of the sea. This issue is given to the oldest way the people of Isra’el have answered Adonai with the whole body.

The history first, from Miryam at the sea to David dancing in the street, and the Scriptures that command it and promise it. Then the lookbook: the vibrant modest dress the women of the land wear when they dance, the headscarf tied seven ways, the jewellery, the timbrels and ribbons and banners. Scenes inspired by the land — the orchards, the courtyards, the wheat fields and the desert.

And then the steps themselves, one at a time, written out plainly so you can learn them at home: the side step and the vine, the hora, the mayim, the Yemenite and the cherkessia, the debka and the box.

Forty-eight pages. You do not have to be graceful. You have to be willing.

The Holy Tongue

Hebrew, one word at a time

Before it was a language anyone studied, it was the language He spoke. This issue is an introduction to biblical Hebrew for people who have never read a letter of it.

You begin with the alef-bet, right to left, and the letters that change shape at the end of a word. Then twenty-four words of Scripture, one to a page, each with its letters, its sound, its meaning and the verse it came out of — or, light; shalom, peace; chesed, loving kindness; nefesh, soul; shema, hear; echad, one.

By the last pages you read two whole verses for yourself: Psalm 23:1, and the first line of the Psalms. No vowel points, no grammar tables, no test at the end. Every word is set large enough to say out loud, over vibrant scenes inspired by the land of Israel.

Forty-eight pages. You do not need to be a scholar to hold this.
